As many have heard, oil has moved from $67 to $78 in the past week and this will feed into the pumps in the next two weeks. Its caused by the usual over optimism of America and will probaly pull back next week. But in the meantime expect to be paying 1.20 for petrol, 1.11 for diesel and 550 for home heat at the end of the month.

watch for sudden increase of 3c - 4c over the next couple of days. Fill up wherever you see diesel @ 1.03 & petrol @ 1.14. Home heat can still be had at 499 - but won't last at that price

Prices won't rise by any huge amount as the duty & retailer / distributor costs remain static. As a guide line, each rise or fall of $5 in the crude price equates on average to a rise or fall of 3c at the pumps. You also need to take into effect the dollar/euro exchange rate

So the rise from $67 2 weeks ago to $81 today, combined to a weakening of the dollar from 1.6 to 1.50 will equate to a pump increase of approx. 8c.  So if your local station was 1.149 last week, expect it to rise to 1.229 over the next 10 - 12 days at about 2c each delivery day.

Diesel; rose a little more, so expect diesel prices to rise 9c from their prices of early last week to new highs next week.
